Halloween Wishes and Other Ish

"Le meow! Le hiss hiss!"

Happy Halloween/All Hallow's Eve/Dia de los Muertos/Hallowe'en/Hallow-mas/what-have-you! I bring you tidings of great fear and paranoia on this special holiday! There will be no surviving this post once I'm through with you! (cue evil laughing and evil lightning/thunder)
Anyway, I wanted to help celebrate this holiday by sharing a poem with you....

IN FRENCH!!!

Anyway, here is "Danse Macabre" by Henri Cazalis. Feel free to translate this in some online translator.

Happy Hallow'een to all and to all a good fright!
<3, RS
(cue evil laugh and evil thunder/lightning)

Zig et zig et zig, la mort en cadence
Frappant une tombe avec son talon,
La mort à minuit joue un air de danse
Zig et zig et zag sur son violon.
Le vent d'hiver souffle et la nuit et sombre;
Les gémissements sortent des tilleuls;
Les squelettes blancs vont à travers l'ombre,
Courant et sautant sous leurs grands linceuls
Zig et zig et zig, chacun se trémousse.
On entend claquer les os des danseurs;
Et le vert gallant un pauvre charron;

The Rain and the Leaves

Splish, splash,
The rain falls to the ground
Splish, splash,
A child runs through the puddles with joy
Splish, splash,
Rain turns golden leaves with a pleasant shine,
A crisp smell,
A smell of jumping in leaf piles,
Being encased by hundreds of these same leaves
Splish, splash,
Sitting inside your warm house,
A cup of hot cocoa in your hand,
Warming your frozen fingertips,
Remembering the splendid simplicity of rain,
The smell of autumn leaves,
The pleasures of coming inside from a day outdoors,
Soaked to the bone,
Receiving a cup of Mother's hot chocolate,
And drying off in front of the welcoming fire,
Remembering how your heart soared as you took in the wonderful sense,
Of the rain and the leaves

okay, you guys really need to send something in...

I'm tired of feeling like I'm the only one that contributes to "Creative Voices and Other Nonsense", so I'm forcing you viewers to write something and send it in. So what I'll do is post a picture and tell you guys to write about whatever comes to mind and send it in when you're finished (see this page for rules). Hopefully I can share whatever you came up in the next week after the prompt (more or less, depending if you submit anything).

Okay, here goes....

What do you think of when you see this picture?:

Please, please, PLEASE write something and send it to theoriginalrspencer@gmail.com for submissions! I can't wait to see what you guys come up with.

The Five Kitties of the Apocalypse =^.^=

THE KITTIES ARE OFFICIALLY HERE! There are five of them: 4 kittens and 1 mama. The two orange kitties are named Fred and George, the black and gray kitties are Harry and Hermione, and Mama's named Skeeter. They're all tabby cats and so soft! The way we can tell the kittens apart are that Fred is a lot more orange and stripey than George (his fur is more like a dulled orange/white), and Harry has longer fur than Hermione (although sometimes I can't tell them apart! 0_0). Skeeter is long and lean with small feet, like an Ancient Egyptian cat. She even gives me the Egyptian Evil Eye sometimes as I call for her like Romeo did for Juliet (ya know, before they kinda died...). Anyway, her fur is a lot like Hermione's, except Skeeter's fur has some caramel-brown hairs mixed around. It's really pretty and I want to pet it constantly, but she's really shy. I did manage to pet her more than usual today, and I got her to purr. Yes!

The kittens are really hyper once they're awake and they've had some food. One minute, they're stumbling around, still sleepy, the next, they're tearing around the room like furry missiles armed with claws that are quite sharp! They fight with each other and wrestle and go nuts with a toy. Meanwhile, Skeeter's up high where she can't deal with any of her overactive children. Her eyes say it all: "God, these kids are so annoying! I wish they'd all just calm the frick down." You can't go five minutes without somekitty wrestling a sibling! It's mostly Fred or George wrestling/fighting with Hermione. Occasionally, I hear exasperated kitten mews of slight pain and aggravation. I've even seen Hermione go for her bro's baby testicles. 0___0

.........................................................................

ENOUGH AWKWARDNESS!!!

Anyway, once they spent their energy, they start to slow down, lie down somewhere, curl up, and fall asleep. Harry's usually the first one to take a nap and I'm there by his side, petting him until his eyes are shut (SO CUTE!). Fred usually the last one to settle down and take a nap. I keep asking him (even though I know cats can't talk) "Aren't you sleepy yet?" when all his other siblings have cuddled together in a nap huddle. Today, they were all napping in a large plastic tub together.
/)^3^(\ I managed to lull Fred to sleep yesterday, and I got him to purr. Even after his eyes closed, his purring was still constant. It was the cutest thing EVER! I managed to pull it off with George too.

I love it when kitties are sleepy. That's the best time to cuddle with them! <3

Anyway, that's all I have for you right now. I'll keep posting kitty updates for those who care about this kind of thing. For those who don't, TOO BAD!!!! >.<

May your days and nights be occupied with cat-related paraphernalia (don't think it's the right word in this situation, but who cares?)!! =^.^=

The Energy-Sucker That Is Called Boredom

I've been trying to put off posting this, but it'll get out somehow....

I'M BORED AND UN-INTERESTED.

It feels gross and I don't like it all that much. But the cats do help and the fact that I have to read the Bible (not completely, I lied). I try to write stuff, but it comes out like a newborn baby's feces (yes, I made potty humor. Even I am an immature child!), and it smells like it too. It makes me feel like a "worthless" writer when I try to desperately write something amazing only to have it suck like yesterday's garbage: I feel like a writer whose work is a pile of dog crap but gets published anyway, hoping to get some money in and be as popular as Stephenie Meyer or J.K. Rowling (which, I'm sorry to say (not really), they won't).

Anyway, I've been trying to write more of that Exodus-redeux thing, blah, blah, blah, but work, kitties, and my severe addiction to the Internet have gotten in the way. Plus my need for sleep. Now I've been getting headaches in the middle of the day that are ruining my thought process for any...... thing..... GRR! >:(

Don't worry. I'll post some more creative stuff soon, as well as posts on the kitties.

Hope I haven't depressed your day! Sorry if I have or made you really confused. Hope you can forgive me!

Bible Reading: Day 12

Well, I've finished the Pentateuch in about a week. That deverves some kind of accomplishment right there. Something to the lines of "Biblical Llama of Pentateuch Epicness Badge: for completing the first section of the Bible. Good job, now eat some delicious and magical cake made by epic llama fairies of magicalness".

Sorry. I kind of like the idea of llamas....

Anyway, I've been breezing through the various sections of the Historical Books, so much that I finished the Book of Joshua in less than a day. Now I'm halfway through the Book of Judges, which is, as explained in my copy of the Bible, "Israel's teenage years". <shudder>

So, I'm going to explain the Books of Numbers through Joshua in very brief summaries so people can follow without losing interest:

  • NUMBERS:
    • The Israelites go conquer cities and celebrate over it. God keeps telling Moses what to do
  • DEUTERONOMY:
    • Moses shares to the Israelites what God's been telling him for the past two to four books. At the end, Moses dies and Joshua takes over
  • JOSHUA:
    • He leads the Israelites over the Jordan River and lets them conquer many cites and rejoice in the name of the Lord

Well, I've got nothing else to say. I hope this has somehow enlightened you day...

Musical Inspiration

So, yesterday I was just wishing away the time online because I had "nothing better to do", and I stumbled upon this video (click plz!), and it made my mind flourish in a creative explosion (not to mention it's freaking AMAZING!). Since I had the idea for the distopic-ish, Hebrew apocalypse-ish, yadda, yadda, yadda, I haven't had a clue on what more to do with it. I'd written some stuff here and there, but I haven't had any solid idea on where they are, who the main antagonist is, what the Hebrew people are going to be forced to do, and if there's going to be an actual war yet. But this video helped me get a hold on some of the unknown questions. With help from various sources on the Internet, I have come up with an applicable characters and (somewhat) story line for the lyrics to this video (you're going to have to click on it eventually...):

Evil Antagonist that-yet-needs-to-be-named:
What cause have I to feel glad?
I've built my life on judgement and causing pain
I don't know those eyes I see in the bloodstained chrome

Sarai:
Now everything that I've had and everything I've known have been thrown away
And with time I've come to find this isn't my home

Abram, Sarai, Evil Antagonist:
I've stoked the fire,
seen more pain that you can know
The tears of the broken have washed away my soul
Pushed by desire to change the way my stream will flow,
now I've awoken,
and I'm taking back control

Sarai:
I tried my best to block out the screams,
but they're haunting me in my dreams
Please break my shackles,
I want it to stop

Abram:
I man these wretched machines
Day in, day out, the grinding wears on my brain
Undermining my sanity,
making me question my reality

Sarai:
But life is not as it seems
Should I take a chance of freedom and throw it all down the drain?
I've been imprisoned!
Please burn my transgressions away.

Abram, Sarai, Evil Antagonist:
I've stoked the fire,
seen more pain that you can know
The tears of the broken have washed away my soul
Pushed by desire to change the way my stream will flow,
now I've awoken,
and I'm taking back control

Sarai:
I tried my best to block out the screams,
but they're haunting me in my dreams
Please break my shackles,
I want it to stop

<electronic solo> (probably some cool fighting montage)

Abram, Sarai:
I've stoked the fire, seen more pain that you can know
The tears of the broken have washed away my soul
Pushed by desire to change the way my stream will flow,
now I've awoken,
and I'm taking back control

Abram:
I'm sick of hurting,
sick of thinking it's all I do

Evil Antagonist:
I break those around me,
those spared are very few

Abram/Sarai:
But the bright sun is burning,
and my sky shines ever blue
Friendships surround me,
I'm becoming a part of you

Sarai:
I tried my best to block out the screams,
but they're haunting me in my dreams
Please break my shackles,
I want it to stop.

*As a side note, Sarai and Abram (aka Sarah and Abraham in the Old Testament, no corralations here) are the main characters of this story and the Evil Antagonist is the oppressor of the Hebrew people in the future. I think there's going to be a factory where Hebrew "slaves" are suffering and Sarai gets put into one of these places for disobeying a law or something. Abram also gets to work in one of these places too. Like I said, these aren't my final plans yet: I'm still a bit murky on the whole concept right now. This was just a way to organize my thoughts and future plans for now*

Anyway, I'll leave you to the rest of your lives (for now). As always, keep being inspired and music is the best remedy for stress.

Bible Reading: Day 6

I managed to read all of Leviticus two nights ago. Thank God that's over! Well, I was right: it was mostly God telling Moses what to do and where to place things to make them holy and other stuff like that. The only thing that I found interesting was the fact that Aaron's sons got annihilated when they were performing an unauthroized offering to God. Now, in modern perspectives, the rest part of the Bible is just filler, or fluff as my friend likes to call it. Now I'm about halfway through the Book of Numbers, which, again, is more filler. It's supposed to be about Moses calling every available tribe in the surrounding area (did I get that right, faithful religious viewers?). I should get it done by tomorrow or the next day, then I'll be one book closer to finishing the Pentateuch! For those who have no idea what the Pentateuch is, it's the first five books of the Bible. Fun fact: the Pentateuch, otherwise known as the Torah, means "the Law", which explains all the "boring filler" about God telling Moses what to do. The next book after the Pentateuch is the Historical Books, which go more into historical accounts of people after the time of Moses.

Anyway, I thought you'd like to know my progress. If not, too bad. ;)

UPDATE 10:38 PM: IT'S BACK TO NORMAL!!! :)

KITTIESKITTIESKITTIESKITTIESOMGZ!!!!!!!!! =^.^=

I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but I <3 CATS OF ALL SHAPES AND SIZES! =^.^= I would give anything to actually own another cat of my own. I've gone without a cat for long that I've developed a certain longing to squeeze one and cuddle it to death (not litterally. Geddit? LITTER-ally? HA! ....sorry you had to endure that)!! I've also developed the awesome power of "speaking to cats" i.e. imitating a cat's meow like a total creep/loser. You see, I once had a cat (code name: KITT-3) long ago, but she was put down at sixteen for yowling at random points in time. I never really had a chance to say good-bye and I was really depressed for weeks, laying down in my parent's comfy bed and watching any TV programs limited cable could offer. Anyway, the moral of this story is that I soon discovered my obsession with cats years after KITT-3 died. For years, I've been longing for other kitties to fill my Happy-Kitty-Meter to Over 9000. ;)

Anyway, the reason I'm writing this is because I have some important news for you guys who probably don't give a flying-crap about cats (you sick, cute-hating sadists!)....:

I'M GOING TO BE FOSTERING KITTIES IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE!!!! :DDDD =^.^=

I don't care if you guys don't care about cats or my "useless" postings: I'm going to post my kitty adventures anyway! I hope to get kitties soon, so watch out because your lives are going to become pointless and agonizing with my overly-constant postings of kitty progress, like (10/20/12 9 AM: FLUFFLES JUST ROLLED OVER! SO QTE! <3, 10/20/12 9:15 AM: SIR PURRS AND MR. CUTEY-PATOOTEY ARE SLEEPING LIKE ANGELS!!!1! GAAAAAAH! /)^3^(\, 10/20/12 9:20 AM: MISS KITTY MCFLUFFLEBUTT IS PURRING BECAUSE I'M PETTING HER!!!! NYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! HEART=EXPLODED FROM TEH QTENESS!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3) etc., etc.
Anyway, I'll leave you contemplating your futures of following this blog. 0_0

Purringly yours =^.^=,

P.S. I'll upload some creative stuff soon. I just need to find them and brighten your lives with my creative awesomeness! ;)

You Having to Listen to Me Rave about "Wicked"

My fellow nerds, geeks, and dorks alike. I saw the Broadway hit "Wicked" today....
And it really wasn't any good.
....................................................

I'M JUST KIDDING! IT WAS FREAKING AMAZING!!!!!!! <l :^)

Anyway, I thought the performance in Seattle was completely AMAZING! At the very end, when everyone was cheering the hell out of the theater, I was all like:
"OMGTHISWASSOFREAKINGCOOLWHYISITOVERIWANTMORETHISWASONEOFTHEBESTESTDAYSOFMYLIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", not to mention that my hands were numb afterward from clapping so hard. I almost cried during the touching parts of the play. It also made me want to write fanfics about the world of Oz. FANFIC WORLD, AWAY!!

All I'm saying is those who are in the Seattle area, go see it or your life will go unfulfilled.

I dare you guys to defy gravity in your and others' lives.

Bible Reading: Day 3

So, I've read Exodus in one day! (sort of.... I finished it around 12 am this morning... :-}). Anyway, I'm on Leviticus, which is a repeat of God telling Moses how to do things to serve the lord and make things holy, blah, blah, blah. All that concerns me is that it's going to be BORING! But I'll muddle through it because I need to win the bet! Hopefully, after this, it won't be as boring for a while. Right?!

Anyway, that's it for now. Now, I'll leave you to do what you will with your lives....

HAHA! JUST KIDDING!!!! I'LL STILL BE HERE FOR THE REST OF YOUR SANE LIVES!! BUA-HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!! 8^D

Insanely,

My Imagination is Willing, but my Spirit is Weak

My imagination can flare up at the worst of times. For example, I was trying to work on something rather important and I was compelled to go through Genesis and write down all the names of the characters or people, if you fully believe in Biblical Inerrancy. Anyway, I've got some already and I think I'll use some of them in a new project I'm working on. It's kind of like a new World War II-ish, Exodus-ish post-apocalyptic distopia where the Hebrew people are getting persecuted again. I think there will be a girl and boy main character and they'll fall in love while fighting for religious/literal freedom, blah, blah, blah...

Anyway, it's setting my imagination off the charts and keeps distracting me from what I should probably be doing....

Aw, who cares!

Here are some of the names I've listed down from Genesis:

Boys:
  • Adam
  • Cain
  • Abel
  • Methuseah
  • Mahalalel (such a fun name!)
  • Seth
  • Jabal
  • Jubal
  • Jared
  • Noah
  • Japeth
  • Mehujael

Girls:
  • Eve
  • Dinah
  • Zillah
  • Naamah
  • Adah

It's sad how there are so many names for the guys and so few names for the girls. Oh well: it's the Bible so I can't question it (apparently).

Thanks for reading and I wish you lots of hugs and chocolate! :)

<3, RS

P.S. Try saying "Mahalalel" five times fast just for fun!
P.P.S. Comment and send some stuff in, please! See this page for rules and other important things of great importance!

Bible Reading: Day 1

Well, it's Day 1 and I haven't finished the Book of Genesis yet. I unfortunately looked at how many books there were in the Bible:

73 BOOKS!!!

Anyway, once I finish Genesis, I'll mark it as 1/73 to see the progress I've made (such slow progress!!!). Now, it's more like, 0.075/73. I've also decided on the end date to be January 29th of next year. I've set a timer so I can keep track of things.

I've made it to where Joseph is helping the Egyptians store food in preparation for the famine, for those who know the Bible, which means I'm almost done with Genesis! THANK GOD! I hope I can finish that tomorrow and get a head-start on Exodus.

Thanks for sticking with me!

The Official Rules of Official Submissions of Official Awesomeness!

Hey, everyone! I've taken the time out of my writing to create some rules for submitting your *projects of awesomeness. So:

For content of writing *projects:
  • No porn (as stated before)
  • No wierd/creepy relationships with under-aged children and adults
  • There can be violence but no over-the-top violence/suicide scenes
  • No overly-repetitive explicit swear words, please. My brain is already rotted out due to the work load I have to do each day.
  • No plagiarism!

For submitting *projects:
Look over your work to make sure to check for spelling/grammar/punctuation errors! I don't have time to edit the first draft of an entire project for you!!!

Facing the possibility of your *project getting rejected:
I hate to do this, but, not all of you will get onto CVON. I know, very distressing. But I'm doing this as a partial favor to you as well as me. The good news about this is that it's practice for dealing with rejection.
I'm not making this better, am I? Anyway, it'll help you deal with life, that's all I'll say.

I'M SORRY I'M NOT GOOD AT REASSURING PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T JUDGE ME!!!

Anyway....
When you send in your *project, copy and paste this agreement:
"I give my full permission for Rosie Spencer to publish my work on 'Creative Voices and Other Nonsense'."

I welcome fanfics of all shapes, sizes, and genres, deeply moving to hilarious poetry, mind-blowingly awesome story excerpts, short stories, whatever you come up with! I can't wait to see what the future has in store for CVON! Keep writing and, as always, feel free to post comments in the comment boxes. See you real soon!

<3, RS

*"Projects" = poems, short stories, chapter excerpts, anything creative

Spontaneous News!

I have decided to do something crazy. It may not be nessesarily creative, but it's certainly spontaneous. Here goes:

I AM GOING TO TRY TO READ THE ENTIRE BIBLE COVER TO COVER IN ABOUT THREE OR FOUR MONTHS!

I set up a bet with my friend against one year. The loser of the bet gets to buy the winner some food of their desire. I'm also going to drag you along with my momentous Biblical journey. I hope you will follow my progress and cheer me on, as well as send me stuff to post on here! Anyway, I finished the story of Moses last time I picked up the Bible and I still need to know whjat else there is in the Book of Genesis.

Hope you're all well and not completely bored!

<3, RS
